Lunch time at Gündoğdu

We usually have soup at our lunch. At lunch we also have rice, meat and every kind of vegetable food. We sometimes have fruit. Spending a lunch time at Gündoğdu is very enjoyable. We always listen to music while we are having our lunch. For a drink we have "Ayran" which is a mixture of yoghurt, water and salt, or fruit juice.

Stories about Family Dinners in Philadephia

The students of Dr. Forste-Grupp's class each wrote a short story about what can happen when a family sits down to eat dinner together.

All of the stories describe the food we typically eat for dinner. And all of the stories have a conversation between the characters.

One story is set during a winter storm. One story is about what happens when an older sister visits from college. A third story is about how a family gets packed and ready for vacation.

But all the stories are wonderful!

You can see them by clicking on this link:

Then you can click on any of the titles and read a short 2-page story! Enjoy!

What Do We Eat for Dinner in Philadelphia?

Here are a few pictures of what EA students eat for dinner.

One picture shows a plate and fork with turkey (or chicken?), baked cinnamon apples, and a little loaf of cornbread.

Another picture shows a bowl of soup and a grilled cheese sandwich.

Episcopal Academy Lunches

Here are some photos from our school cafeteria. On the day these photos were taken, students were served chicken pattie sandwiches, a favorite meal on our campus.

13 Ways of Looking at an EA Student

Here is a poem that Dr. Forste-Grupp's class wrote about Episcopal Academy Students. Each student in this IV form class wrote one stanza.

Our next post will be about food!

Thirteen Ways of Looking at an EA Student

I
All of the 1, 200 students
Work incredibly hard
To get good grades.

II
We are of many minds
Like each class
In which there are many voices.

III
The student succeeded in the EA community
She/he was a small part of the school.

IV
A desk and a pencil
Are one
A desk and a pencil and a student
Are one.

V
They do not know which to prefer,
The work during the school day
Or the work during the sports practices,
The time with other classmates
Or just after.

VI
Dr. Forste-Grupp’s Z block class
8 girls and 5 boys
We read wonderful stories
Macbeth, Life of Pi
The best
Food for William’s brain
He gets smarter every day

VII
O dull students of Haverford
Why do you have only boys?
Can you not see that Episcopal students
Both boys and girls
Are just as bright, smart, and cheerful?

VIII
All the students arrive
With smiles, laughter, and cheer;
Ready to start
A brand new day
Of learning and fun.

IX
When we started school in September
It marked the beginning of a new year
Playing sports and catching up with friends.

X
At the sound of EA students
Cheering on their fellow classmates
Even the jeers of Haverford
Would silence the wind.

XI
He is superior to all
In every competition
Fortitude, intimidation,
And persistence are our strength
That highlight our success.

XII
The wall clocks are ticking
The students should be learning.

XIII
It was morning from 8 to 4
It was sunny
And it was going to shine
The student sat
In the wooden desk.

about the project

Dear my colleagues,
we've started the project today. Our students will take some photos of what they have at breakfast and lunch. All of our students joining this project will log in the blog this week.
I think we'll be able to send the photos next Monday. And then we'll start preparing the box to be sent.
Our students are really excited to share their opinions with you.
Do you have any ideas or plan after this step? Maybe after talking food, the students may start talking about music.
Have a nice week!

Friends from the Turkey and the USA

A New Year!

Last year our schools, Episcopal Academy and
Gůndoğdu School, began a friendship. We shared pictures, objects, and thoughts through e-mail. We also exchanged students and teachers last year for a week.

This year we are going to continue to talk, but through this blog!

Our first topic will be food! What do you eat for lunch? Can you give us a picture? What is your favorite food?
